DAY TO DAY ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

  • Altitude: 880 meters (2,887 feet)
  • Accommodation: Budget hotel in Moshi
  • Meals: Dinner
  • Overview: Arrive in Moshi, the bustling town at the foothills of Kilimanjaro. Meet your guide and fellow climbers for a pre-trek briefing. Enjoy a hearty dinner and a good night’s rest to prepare for the upcoming journey.

Day 2: Rongai Gate to First Cave Camp

  • Altitude: 1,950 meters (6,398 feet)
  • Hiking Distance: 8 kilometers (5 miles)
  • Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
  • Accommodation: First Cave Camp (Budget tents)
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  • Description: Embark on the trek from Rongai Gate through lush rainforests alive with bird calls. Ascend gradually, and witness the first glimpses of the towering mountain above the treetops. Day 4: Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

  • Hiking Distance: 6 kilometers (3.7 miles)
  • Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
  • Accommodation: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (Budget tents)

Day 5: Acclimatization at Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Hut

Day 7: Summit Day – Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

  • Altitude: 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) at Uhuru Peak, descend to 3,720 meters (12,205 feet) at Horombo Hut
  • Hiking Distance: 21 kilometers (13 miles) round trip
  • Hiking Time: 10-15 hours
  • Accommodation: Horombo Hut (Budget huts)
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  • Description: The culmination of your journey arrives with the midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak. With headlamps illuminating the path, you make your way up the steep scree. Reach the summit at dawn and savor the awe-inspiring sunrise views. Descend to Horombo Hut, where a warm meal and a comfortable bed await, marking the completion of your remarkable Kilimanjaro adventure.
